Kerala’s Model Tourism Village

Kumbalanghi

Kumbalanghi, located a few kilometres off Cochin, is an ideal get-away
for tourists who visit Kerala. Its backwaters, lagoons and villages will
enchant you. The Model Tourism Village Project has been a successful one,
and Kumbalanghi is on the way to be a model for other tourist
spots in Kerala.

The best way to enjoy the life here is to stay with a family in a
homestay. You can laze around near the paddy fields, visit prawn
and fish farms. There are a number of churches and temples in the area.
All of them with ancient traditions and stories to tell. You can
take boats to Vypeen, Cherai and Fort Cochin.

There are Chinese fishing nets along the village sides, and you
can watch the local fishermen catching fish using them. There are handicraft
shops where you can get local wares and souvenirs.

From Kumbalanghi there are boat tours and houseboat packages to
other cities in Kerala. Sight seeing tours, too, can be arranged with the help of
travel agencies.
