Film Festival 2009 – Aluva
The third edition of the Aluva International Film Festival 2009 will be held from March 27 to 29 at the IMA auditorium. It is organised by the Janachithra Film Society along with the Kerala Chalachithra Akademi and the Federation of Film Societies of India. The event will bring together works of people from across the world. Famous writer Sethu will inaugurate the festival on March 27 at 5 p.m.. Poet Sachidanandan Puzhankara and Smitha Gopi, chairperson of Aluva municipality, will offer felicitations at the festival inauguration.
‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjama,’ a moving film against the backdrop of World War II will be tscreened first. The festival will see feature films, short films and documentaries from a host of countries. Other movies that will be screened on the first day will be ‘Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress’ from China.
Other movies on score are ‘Funny Games’ (USA), ‘Postcards from Leningrad’ (Venezuela), ‘Dreams of Dust’ (France) and ‘Three Monkeys’ (Turkey). ‘Lemon Tree’ (Israel), ‘The Coffin’ (Thailand), ‘Diaspora’ (Malayalam documentary),‘Maradona’ (France-Spain), ‘Store Keeper’ (South Africa), ‘xxy’ (Argentina), ‘16 mm’ (Kerala) and ‘Machan’ (Sri Lanka).
