Kerala’s Summer Retreats
Kerala is blessed with hill stations of all varieties. Imagine spending a cool weekend in one while your hometown is boiling in the summer sun! The Western Ghats has some of the best hill stations in India. Not to mention the tourists who come from abroad.Munnar is the all-time favourite summer destination. Tourists from within the state and outside come here to take a break. There are many activities that you can take up. You can go cycling, boating, trekking in and around Munnar and go for nature walks.
Kuttikanam in Idukki district stands at 3,500ft. It is an idyllic vacation town. Away from noisy cities and crowds, there is lots to see here-you can go trekking in the Thrishangu hills and PAnchalimedu, visit waterfalls and tea gardens, too.
Thekkady is another nature spot which tourists flock to. Boating on the man made Periyar Lake, elephant-spotting, jungle safaris and trekking are just some of the interesting things you can do there. You can visit the Wildlife Sanctuary and Periyar Tiger Reserve.
Vythiri, in Wayanad, has a number of resorts and tourist accommodation options, including erumadams (tree houses). To the south of Vythiri is Lakkidi, atop the Thamarasseri Ghat Pass.
