Resul – Kerala’s first Oscar winner
He called it “history handed over to him”. It truly was. Given credit to his home town and his country, he gave an excellent acceptance speech as he became the first Indian to win an Oscar for Sound Mixing, for Slumdog Millionaire. He is also the first Malayalee to win the award.
He was born in Villakupara in Kollam district. He moved to Mumbai after his
studies at FTII, Pune. This 36-year-old has worked with renowned directors, and
he has worked for movies like Black, Ghajini, Saawariya, Bluffmaster!, and many more. He has inspired in youngsters an interest in sound engineering, sound mixing and related fields. Resul is Kerala’s pride!
