Very much in vogue – Kerala featured in Vogue magazine

And you thought Vogue was all about fashion, models and the tinsel town. Well… check out the June edition of the Vogue UK and you’ll find Kerala sprawled across 20 pages. Yup, true. Titled ‘Indian Summer’, French photographer Patrick Demarchelier captures the essence of Cochin and Vaikom areas in his latest photo shoot.

Featuring 25-year-old Polish-born model, Daria Werbowy, the feature covers Kochi’s Chinese fishing nets and backwaters, boat jetties, rural set-ups, street scenes, paddy fields and of course, a very friendly elephant.

In 2008, more than 20% of Kerala’s tourism market share went to UK tourists. There has been a steady rise in the number of UK visitors to Kerala in the last decade or so.
