Utsavam 2009-2010: Kerala’s Art Forms On A Platter

Do you know how many art forms are there in Kerala? What does each colour of the artiste’s face paint say, in Kathakali? How did Theyyam evolve? Don’t know? Head to Utsavam, held all over the 14 districts of Kerala from 5 Dec 2009 to 8 Feb 2010.

About a thousand well-known artistes from various art and culture backgrounds will perform over this 26-day period to showcase the richness of Kerala’s art forms. From Yakshagana, Mudiyettu, Padayani, and Theyyam, to Mohiniyattom, Kathakali, Kummattikali and Nadanpattu, there are a host of programmes – about 370 of them – to entice you.

In Cochin, the stages are set at the Vasco da Gama Square at Fort Cochin, Bolghatty Palace, Kumbalanghi Model Tourism Society Hall and at Munnambam in Vypeen.
